Summer at St. Michael's Day Camp

Our summer program is based on a holistic approach to education using several approaches and forms of media. Children are encouraged to express themselves through exploration of the visual arts, creative movement, environmental studies, creative writing, sports and crafts. The program celebrates diversity in our community and our world. We encourage respect, awareness, and the appreciation of others.

Morning Adventurers -
For children ages 3-5*  9:00 -1:00   $210.00
(Our 2nd session is a 4 day week and is $168.00)

Our Morning Adventurers program is a stimulating half-day program that introduces our youngsters to key social values such as respect, awareness and to appreciate others. Our camp is unique in the fact that it introduces our youngest group to specialized activities that include swimming, crafts, dance, supervised play, and story time on a daily basis. The program is designed, and run, by professional early childhood educators and their assistants. All camp sessions celebrate diversity in our community, and our world, while maintaining themes that provide focus and direction for each meeting. To kick-off camp, we will start with Under the Sea, where our Morning Adventurers will submerge themselves in sea and beach life with hands-on projects, culminating with a trip to the First Beach Aquarium. After a water-filled week, we will put on our eye-patches and climb aboard the "Mighty St. Michael's" for Ahoy... A Pirate's Life. During session three, Under the Big Top, our little clowns will jump through hoops and create balloon animals under the cottage circus tent. From magic to majesty, week four takes us on an exploration of Castles as our young adventurers seek to become worthy of the throne. During our fifth week, we turn back the clock to the land of pre-historic times and learn all about the Dinosaurs who preceded us. From there, we travel Into the Garden with our old friend, the hungry caterpillar, to discover the roots of our favorite vegetables and flowers. Finally, our last camp will be A Great Big Splash as we hit the pool and playground with water toys galore!

Junior Adventurers -
For children entering grades 1st - 4th

Our Junior Adventurers program has a structured day that includes a rich variety of activities guided by an experienced activity head. Each morning, the campers will be introduced to a series of stimulating, theme-oriented programs complimented by physical outlets such as swimming and other sports. The optional afternoon program will offer a variety of activities and games: inside, outside and poolside. Weekly themes provide focus and direction to each session. Week one begins when St. Michael's campers take to the runway in Calling All Fashion Designers. Campers will have ample time to create original designs and explore how hair, make-up and manicures can really make a fashion statement. The culminating show is when they strut their stuff! During week two, the Beach Craft Explorers will take a trip to the Atlantic Ocean and beach comb the shoreline, collecting mermaid purses and seashells to compliment their beach treasure creations. Our third week blasts off with challenging hands-on experiments in Science Schematics. For week four, we'll roll out the red carpet, creating original performances in SMS's Got Talent! This talent show is surely not-to-be-missed! Week five, we browse computer science in our Apple lab, creating new art forms during Computer Graphics. For the sixth session, we'll acquire the ability to treat that special someone with recipes compiled in Our Very Own Cookbook. This cooking class gives young chefs opportunities to bake, blend and make tasty recipes, sans stove, while expanding their understanding of ingredient combinations, measurements, food preparation and kitchen safety. Finally, we conclude our fun-filled summer getting Wet n' Wild as we submerge ourselves in water games and drench our back-to-school blues.
