Enrichment camp - programs, dates & fees

Pottery
Back by popular demand, campers enjoy getting their hands dirty while creating unique pieces with clay. Have you ever worked the potter's wheel, or, as they say, "thrown a pot"? Have you ever created a coiled container, a slab wall-hanging or a pinch pot? Here is your chance. Our artists will also have the opportunity to glaze and fire many of their masterpieces

Land and See
Does Newport's landscape and seascape bring out the artist in you? Do you need that gentle push from our talented art teacher to bring that vision to the canvas? Each day, campers will venture out to a local site within walking distance of the campus to create works using watercolor, acrylic, and pastel techniques. Possible destinations may include: First Beach, Bellevue Avenue, the Cliff Walk, Touro Park and Newport Harbor.

Lego Robotics Camp
Journey into SMS Lego land. Your mission will be to complete ten objectives in the fast paced world of robotic programming. Each pair of campers will be supplied with robotics kits. A variety of skill levels are encouraged as we challenge all levels. Come see how moving an experience robotic programming can be!
July 19 - July 23, $250.00 For children entering 4th through 8th grade

Digital Photography
Picture yourself competing with Olympic champions or jammin' with the Jonas Brothers down at First Beach. These examples become actual photographic possibilities when you "Photoshop"! Do you love taking pictures? Campers will divide their time between photography and importing the pictures in order to enhance them with Adobe Photoshop. This camp uses computer technology to create individualized, frame-ready photos. You will learn to manipulate and combine photos to create that "once-in-a-lifetime" snapshot. Campers must provide their own digital camera, and USB cord, and be ready to explore some of Newport's finest sites. This program offers creative minds the freedom to explore their photographic interests.
